Auto Repair Questions
Do you repair air conditioning?
Yes. AC repair is one of the services the shop offers, from weak cooling to systems that have stopped blowing cold.
How do I know if my brakes need attention?
Grinding, squealing, a soft or low pedal, or a brake warning lamp are all reasons to have them checked. Brakes are a safety system, so it is better to look early than late.
What should I do if my vehicle is overheating?
Pull over when it is safe, turn the engine off and let it cool before opening anything under the hood. Then call the shop.
Maintenance Questions
How do I know when my oil needs changing?
Your owner's manual and the maintenance reminder on your dashboard give the interval for your vehicle. Short trips, summer heat and towing all work oil harder, so check sooner if you drive that way.
Why does coastal driving count as hard driving?
Heat, humidity, salt air and stop and go traffic all add wear to oil, batteries, brakes and AC systems. Many owner's manuals treat conditions like these as severe service.
Diagnostic Questions
What does a check engine light actually mean?
It means the engine computer has recorded a fault. That can be minor or something that needs attention soon, and the code it stored is the starting point for finding out which. A flashing light is a reason to stop driving and call.
Will clearing the code fix the problem?
No. Clearing a code turns the light off, but if the cause is still there the light comes back. A diagnosis finds the cause.
Can I bring my vehicle in for a diagnosis only?
Call the shop at (843) 215-6858 to ask about a diagnosis-only visit.
Parts Questions
Do you have the part I need?
Call the shop with your vehicle's year, make and model and the part you need, and they can tell you.
Can the shop install a part for me?
Glenns Bay Automotive is a full repair shop, so ask about installation when you call.
